Professor Katsuya Tamai is a counsel with the Rader Group PLLC. He is a professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) of the University of Tokyo since May 1997, and serves as a faculty member at the Economics and Law of Shinshu University since April 2014.
Professor Tamai teaches at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo and at Keio University. Being fluent in English and German, he has also lectured widely on Japanese and international IP issues. Professor Tamai is known as one of the three founders of the Todai TLO, the first and the most successful technology licensing organization in Japan established in 1998. He is also the founding director of the Non-Profitable Organization for Promotion of Research on IP (NPO PRIP Tokyo) since its establishment in 1995 and serves as a board member of the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) since 2012.
